Vivienne K. Schleu, CPA, a Florida Keys native and a 40-year resident of Boca Raton, founded Alpina with her late husband, Gary Mathews, CFS, who collected Alpina Motorcars. After more than 21 years of partnership, he passed away at age 59, leaving a devastating void. Mathews was a master and true student of the industry. They also founded their advisory firm National Wealth Management Group (NWMG) and tax practice.
“Mathews said, ‘It doesn’t matter how much you know. Your clients want to know how much you care,’ Schleu recalls. “He also said, ‘The only client that pays is the client that stays. For a client to stay, you must do the right thing by them.’ Mathews’ philosophy continues throughout the firm to this day.”
Schleu says, “We would not be where we are today if it was not for our amazing team of about forty advisors, tax planners and numerous support staff. Attrition is very low in our firm, as we take a hands-off approach with our team. We show them what to do and get the heck out of their way.”
Schleu’s longest-standing client first hired her as a CPA in 1992. When she obtained her securities licenses as a broker and fiduciary in 1995, one of the first CPA’s in the state of Florida to do so, she offered him wealth management services. She continues to manage his money and has since taken on his now-grown children as clients.
Alpina takes a comprehensive approach to financial planning, providing strategic tax planning, investing and advice, all under one umbrella.
NWMG focuses on customized portfolio management and Schleu credits her team for the longevity of their client relationships, which includes successful families, corporate executives, business owners and institutions.
