SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 14, 2023 – PNC Private Bank® has appointed Jim Schmelter to lead its San Antonio-based team. In his role as senior vice president and PNC Private Bank market leader, Schmelter will lead a team of local relationship managers who specialize in wealth strategy, investment management, trust & estate services, and credit & cash management solutions.
With over 30 years of demonstrated success in wealth management and investment advisory roles, Schmelter most recently served as senior vice president and investment advisor for the team. He has been with PNC 14 years, and during that time, has helped PNC clients achieve their financial goals throughout the various stages of life, including short-term credit and cash management needs, as well as long-term investment and estate planning goals.
“We are seeing not only population growth in the greater San Antonio area, but also an inward migration of wealth,” said Chris Sherman, PNC regional president for San Antonio. “Jim’s new role comes at an influential time for the private banking industry as the economy changes and baby boomers are planning for the transfer of their family’s generational wealth. Jim’s knowledge of the market combined with PNC’s national platform will expand our continued growth in the region.”
In addition to serving high net worth clients in San Antonio, Schmelter and his team lead the local delivery of services for PNC Private Bank Hawthorn®, which offers services for ultra-high net worth families and individuals. They provide business succession planning solutions to help family-owned and privately held businesses preserve their legacies and create a philanthropic impact. Additionally, PNC Private Bank Hawthorn’s Institute for Family Success® offers a distinct approach to help families improve their communication and family dynamics to help ensure the purpose behind their wealth is realized.
Schmelter earned his Master of Business Administration from Indiana University and his Bachelor of Business Administration from Michigan State University. He is also a member of the Masters Leadership Program of Greater San Antonio, Class XX.
